LA Lakers2009 Championship Parade
I had myself a little adventure today. Yes...I gave myself the day off. =) Yes...I went to the Lakers parade. Yes...I am a Lakers fan (don't hate)!
I almost chickened out and didn't go because I was a bit scared of the crowds & the traffic. Plus, I didn't have anybody to go with since everyone I knew had to work. I was really determined to go, though, because I didn't want to miss out on the celebration. This is gonna sound totally cheese, but I've missed out on things in the past due to fear and completely regretted it later (whether it be a photography opportunity or a chance to meet someone or whatever else), and this time I wasn't gonna have none of that. So, with my camera in tow, I braved the crowds and headed downtown. I'm really glad I did because it was a lot of fun, and not only did I finally figure out LA's metro system, but I also got to see my hottie Trevor Ariza! =P
Anyhow, for those of you who couldn't make it to the party, here are a couple of pictures from today's parade.
Thousands of people lined up along Figueroa

Nice hair, dude!

Some of the lovely Laker girls

Here come the players!

He's totally looking at me....holla!

Kobe

His girls are so adorable!

Heading towards the coliseum rally

I know how you feel about the fear thing, and letting it hold you back! Just the other day I scrounged up the courage to go to a carnival by my self (something I've always wanted to do) to take pictures of the rides at sunset...and it turned out awesome! Great job on the pics, and good for you that you overcame your fears to just do it!

nice! you went! they look so weird without their basketball uniforms on! it's like they're REAL people :)
great shots! thanks for sharing those pics. go lakers! i'm going to next years parade :D
Fabulous shots! I swoon over Luke Walton...ahhh...thanks so much for posting that photo! Your fear was valid in this case - apparently the gang-fans went a little nuts.
What an awesome experience!! I'm not a huge bball fan but I feel excited just looking at your photos! And props for overcoming your fear and heading over there on your own - I've had similar experiences and it's a totally liberating feeling! :)
i wish there was a way i could have made the parade AND be at the coliseum. seems like at the parade you can get a much closer look and you can bring whatever lens you want---and not be restricted at the coliseum. BUT still fun.
i'm glad you went.
so jealous! i totally wanted to go!
Hi serena! My students and I were a few blocks over at Hoover Park that day on a field trip. We saw all the laker fans heading towards the parade! I wish I could have seen you! Go Lakers!
Great shots Serena! As a LONG TIME Laker Fan. It is about time! Seven years without a championship is Way too Long! I too wanted to go but there's this thing called work that got in the way. =P HAHA! Anyway, I missed the 3peat with Shaq and now this. Your pictures however made it look like we were all there with you. Thanks for sharing this images. Too bad your "hottie" Ariza bolted for H-town. But we got someone that will assure us a repeat! I propose, for 2010 the Los Angeles Lakers, your NBA WORLD Champion! GO LAKERS!!
Thanks for posting, Serena! I am a HUGE Lakers fan too (lived in LA for 12 years)! So glad they won this year!
